Amanda Koonlaba

Educational Speaker

Amanda Koonlaba, Ed. S. is an educator and artist with more than 14 years of experience teaching both visual art and traditional courses. Her career has been driven by the power of the arts to reach all learners. She is a published author and frequent speaker at education conferences. Koonlaba was named the Elementary Art Teacher of the Year for the state of Mississippi in 2016 and received the Arts Integration Service Award from the Whole Schools, a program of Mississippi Arts Commission. She holds an Elementary and Middle Childhood Art certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Koonlaba is on a mission to ensure every student in America has access to a high-quality arts-based education. With lessons from how to create works of art to represent mathematical concepts to using theme and self-portraits for ELA understandings, Koonlaba offers a wide array of arts-integrated learning for students and teachers. She is a whiz at creating arts-integrated lessons to teach any standard for a wide range of learners.

Amanda earned her bachelor of education degree from Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS. Additionally, she earned a masters of science in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University and an education specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. She lives in Tupelo, MS with her husband, Cherdchai, and daughters, Willa and Ruby.
