Stylized Cactus Art Lesson

This stylized cactus art lesson for kids is a fun game where students create their own amazing cactus (or succulent) artwork.

This game can be used with any grade level and any art media. The game recommends using markers, but we have taught this lesson using a variety of media in the past. So, we know anything will work!

This lesson pairs well with both the Crazy Collaborative Cactus lesson and the Cactus (and Succulent) Art Project as a center or independent extension work. There are some writing and reflection activities here that are also great for follow up work for all these art lessons and projects.

You might notice not all of this resource is digitally created. That is for a BIG and IMPORTANT reason. Students can be pretty hard on themselves about their drawing. They expect perfection because usually what they are looking at is a digitally created image. Of course no child can draw like that! I've found that hand-drawn resources help take the pressure off so kids don't feel like they have to be perfect. It is a buffer for them. They see the hand-drawn work and get engaged because they aren't as afraid of making mistakes.
